Professional indemnity insurance
Regarding P.I.I., we are insured under the Law Society of Scotland Master Policy, which is administered by Marsh, the insurance brokers. Their address is 30 Queensferry Road, Edinburgh, and their telephone number is 0131 311 4100.

The insurance covers us for advice on matters within our areas of expertise throughout the UK and Europe. Any solicitor wishing to practise conveyancing or conduct litigation in England requires also to be regulated by the English Law Society and to have in place separate PI cover.

For the avoidance of doubt we do not practise conveyancing or conduct litigation in England. In those Englsh cases where there is a litigation element we are entitled to provide specialist advice on the substantive environmental law issues as they apply in England (for which our Scottish PI insurance provides cover), but the actual conduct of any litigation would be instructed through local English solicitors and/or counsel.
Complaints
Complaints about those solicitors regulated by the Law Society of Scotland are dealt with by the Scottish Legal Complaints Commission.

Their telephone number is 0131 201 2130 and their website is www.scottishlegalcomplaints.org.uk

N.B. Any complaint to the SLCC should be made within 1 year of the conduct complained of, as they operate to time limits.
